Welcome to Leavesden Green JMI School!
At Leavesden Green JMI School, a school for children aged 3-11 years, we are proud to be an ambitious and forward-thinking school that is committed to making a real difference to every child who comes here.
We believe that strong reading, communication and learning skills are the foundation of success. From the earliest of years through to Year 6, we place reading at the heart of our curriculum so that every child develops the confidence to read fluently, express themselves clearly and engage fully with learning across all subjects.
Our School Environment
Following an extensive building project, we now have the capacity to operate as a two-form entry school across all year groups. Previously two seperate schools, our buildings are now fully connected and benefit from excellent facilities including two halls, five playgrounds and a large field that supports a wide range of outdoor learning experiences.
Investment through our Sports Premium Funding has enhanced our grounds further, with the addition of a Daily Mile track, a teaching long-jump pit and outdoor Gym equipment in both the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. Throughout the school, classrooms, offices and shared spaces have been thoughtfully designed with large windows and natural light. This creates a calm and welcoming envrionment that supports wellbeing and learning.
Our Approach to Learning
Our greatest strength lies in the commitment and expertise of our staff and governors, who work together to create a secure, caring and stimulating environment where children feel known, supported and challenged.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to uncover the talents and potential of every learner. Reading and communication runs through all areas of our learning, helpinging children to deepen their understanding, talk confidently about their ideas and develop a love of books and learning. We aim to inspire curiosity, creativity and high levels of engagement, leading to deeper and longer-lasting learning.
Developing Confident and Caring Learners
Children at Leavesden Green JMI School are encouraged to reflect on their contributions to the school and the wider community, developing empathy, respect and a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
We deliberately provide opportunities for children to take on new challenges - including activities they may not master straight away - so they learn to be brave, resilient and ambitious learners. Through this approach, children grow in confidence, independance and determination to prepare them well for the next stage of their education and for life beyond primary school.
