Welcome to Bear – Spring Term
We have had a wonderful start to the term with our whole school theme of Take One Picture, where we have used the painting ‘The Battle of San Romano’ by Paolo Uccello as a stimuli for our learning.
In Bear Class our learning has been centred around the concept of ‘Identity’. We have had great fun looking in detail at ourselves in order to sketch self-portraits. We have also considered the question ‘What makes me…me?’ and generated adjectives that we would use to describe ourselves both on the inside and out. In Literacy we have written Kennings poems and autobiographies and we are working on improving our spelling as well as neatness and presentation. We are enjoying reading ‘My Friend Walter’ during our shared reading sessions and are looking forward to finding out what happens whilst we further develop our reading skills.
In maths we have been investigating shape, including symmetry; multiplying numbers by 10 and 100, including decimals; and converting units of measurement.
In science we are learning about the characteristics of living things and investigating habitats around our school grounds.
